I loooove coupons. Love ’em. I get free stuff. I save half on my beauty products and…oh yeah, get free stuff. I get to splurge without guilt. And the money I save goes into our Big Thing fund. Now I know your Big Thing is your wedding, or your honeymoon, so I really want to get you to think about coupons way differently than you might have before.
Coupons are not your mother’s or grandmother’s domain anymore. They’re now an achievement. One little slip of paper or code on your SmartPhone, and you get a $120 haircut for $30. I’d say that’s something to brag about. Designer shoes for 80% off? Maybe better to keep that one quiet, and let friends think you dropped a lot on those Choos.
If you’re paying for your wedding, or for elements of it, or for your honeymoon, the smartest way to find extra cash to put in those funds — rather than smoking out your credit cards — is by doing the coupon thing with your regular expenses. That way, you don’t feel deprived. You can still get a manicure, just for half-price.
Here are some of my favorite coupon sites and online discount code sources — that can get you a wedding dress for 60% off at Ann Taylor or Anthropologie or J Crew and on and on….and they can be added on to the site’s already-there sales, plus free shipping, and pretty soon you get your shopping fix for waaaay less.
For online clothing shopping: www.retailmenot.com. The Queen of all online discount code sites.
For food, beauty supplies and more: www.coupons.com, www.couponmom.com, www.redplum.com, www.couponnetwork.com.
For restaurant and spa coupons and deals: www.groupon.com, www.livingsocial.com.
I also go wild for the printable coupons and online coupons at www.target.com, and here’s one of my favorite favorites:
Don’t let the cute image fool you… www.swaggrabber.com is a fierce source of amazing deals and freebies that really fits the bride’s wishlist. Just this morning, I saw on their Facebook feed this deal: 70% off fitness bundles from Amazon — just $13.49 shipped. All the fitness gear you could want to prep for your wedding for less than $15? Just for following www.swaggrabber.com. I’m a fan of this site, not a spokesperson, and I had to share it with you.
I’d also love for you to follow www.brokeassbride.com’s Tweets and FB updates, and their award-winning blog. They have a Groupon-style coupon plan just for brides when you sign to their newsletter. Brilliant stuff. Wish I thought of it, but Dana and her circle of awesomeness at Broke-Ass Bride are the perfect team to create this for you.
So start couponing, searching, clipping, and using your phone to scan those squiggly little codes we’re seeing in magazines and in store. And you can have a big-money victory every day….and those weekly mani/pedis don’t have to be chopped out of your budget!
